Where is Steve Jobs?

Steve Jobs' absence from the public eye is prompting questions about the Apple CEO's status, management effectiveness and health.
So far, the company has done little to provide substantive answers to those questions. The mystery behind the lack of a Stevenote is leading some to speculate that Apple is getting ready to dethrone him, that Jobs has lost some of his typically ironclad control or that his health is failing. "The company can be a little more open about what's happening with Steve Jobs," said Vijay Rakesh, a ThinkPanmure analyst. "It'd help everybody put some uncertainty to rest."

Ailing Economy Could Fuel Online Growth In '09

The continued growth of new media coupled with the ailing economy spells both opportunity and adversity for the coming year, according to IPG Emerging Media Lab's team of digital experts. "We look at this next year as difficult, but filled with opportunities," said Lori Schwartz, director of the Media Lab, during a press call on Thursday. "Online advertising is expected to grow, because marketers are looking for more accountability."

Page Thompson Named CEO of OMG North America

Omnicom Media Group announced internally today that Page Thompson, previously head of OMD North America, has been appointed to the newly created position of CEO, Omnicom Media Group North America, putting him in charge of all Omnicom Media Group units in the region, including OMD, PHD and its other strategic business units. This structure mirrors Omnicom Media Group's global structure and its configuration in regions such as Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Latin America; and Asia Pacific.
